The Louisville football program continued its preseason camp with the annual media day activities on Wednesday afternoon at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium. Head coach Charlie Strong, defensive coordinator Vance Bedford, offensive coordinator Shawn Watson and numerous players talked with a large contingent of reporters in advance of the 2012 season.
Wednesday Practice Recap
Putting the pads on for the first time in 2012, the University of Louisville went 25 periods on Wednesday morning to beat the extreme heat headed to the Louisville area in the afternoon.
The Cardinals started practice with the vaunted Oklahoma drill, which is a full-contact, tackling drill that the staff uses to instill toughness and physicality into the team.
The Cardinals went through a grueling and physical practice that was highlighted by the play of the offense. Under the direction of first-year offensive coordinator Shawn Watson, the Cardinals continue to be solid and precise in the passing game. Sophomore quarterback Teddy Bridgewater and senior quarterback Will Stein look to have a firm grasp of the passing game and are helped by a talented group of running backs and wide receiver.
The Cardinals continue to rotate a number of running backs into the lineup and are fortunate to have exceptional talent running the ball.
Senior wide receiver Andrell Smith is having a good first five days and has made a number of big plays and acrobatic catches, including one for a touchdown this morning. Michaelee Harris continues to slowly work his way back into the lineup and has been elevated to doing some work in 7-on-7 drills.
The Cardinals conduct their first two-a-day practice on Thursday at 7 a.m., ET and will also practice at 5:10 p.m.
