University of Louisville defensive back Anthony Conner, who was injured last Friday in the Cardinals’ 16-14 win over Rutgers, will be honored by his teammates in this Saturday’s home game versus Syracuse. U of L players will wear “AC” stickers on the back of their helmets for the game versus the Orange.
Conner, a senior from Houston Texas, had a surgical procedure done Monday at Jewish Hospital by Dr. Richard Holt. The surgery was done to help stabilize his cervical fracture. Conner was moved out of intensive care on Tuesday and was able to take his first steps on Wednesday after the serious injury.
The 5-foot-10 cornerback injured his neck in the first half of Louisville’s game on Friday night. Playing in all seven games, Conner recorded 21 tackles and an interception in the season-opening win over Murray State.
Louisville takes on Syracuse at noon on Saturday as the BIG EAST Game of the Week.
